During a risk assessment, you look closely at work activities that could cause harm to your employees and visitors at your workplace. You determine the control measures you can implement to minimise the risk. A risk assessment template simply helps you score/rate the activities so that you can take action to minimise or control the risk.

For example, you can use a risk assessment template to help you keep a record of:

• who could be harmed and how
• what you’re already doing to prevent harm to employees
• What further action is required to control the risks
• who needs to carry out the action
• when the action is required
