Ways in which First2HelpYou is contributing to the environment

The importance of environmental sustainability is more important than ever. If we as individuals cause too much damage to the environment, we may reach a point of no return. That’s why we all need to act now to do our best to protect the environment.

At First2HelpYou, we are lucky to benefit from our sister company’s environmental efforts. If you weren’t already aware, First2HelpYou is a sister company of Mayfair Fire & Security, and both companies share four of the same directors. Since Mayfair Fire & Security is working towards the environmental standard ISO 14001, we at First2HelpYou benefit from their environmental efforts as well as partaking in our own.

3 – phase 45KW solar panel system

First2HelpYou shares the same office building as Mayfair Fire & Security. They recently installed a 3 – phase 45KW solar system comprising 80 x 560w panels onto the office roofs. The panels can generate over 160kw per day on average and save 5000kw per month of usage. It can prevent 27 tons of co2 from being polluted into the atmosphere, and the equivalent of planting 40 trees a year. Due to this, we benefit from the renewable energy produced by the panels to utilise our offices.

Electric vehicles

Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular. They reduce air pollution considerably and contribute to climate change. Four directors of First2HelpYou travel to and from work using electric vehicles, and the car park is equipped with several charging points available for staff and visitor use.

Our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)

Our ARC, First County Monitoring (FCM), also shares the same office building. FCM is a subsidiary business of Mayfair Fire & Security. Therefore, our ARC also benefits from solar energy and complies closely with the environmental regulations set out by Mayfair Fire & Security.

LED office lighting

All our office lighting consists of LED bulbs. LED lighting is the best option for reducing carbon footprint. LEDs are:

  • 100% more recyclable
  • Eco-friendly
  • Energy efficient
  • Versatile

Recycling

We actively recycle all our used rubbish into separate recycling bins which will help reduce levels of pollution and tackle some of the root causes of global warming. Our lone worker device packaging is also fully reusable and recyclable. Any broken or faulty devices are recycled via a third-party company that complies with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive and Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

Hybrid working

We allow our employees to work either in the office or from home. In addition to improving work/life balance for our employees, flexible working also benefits the environment. A reduction in the number of employees traveling to the office will reduce the amount of pollution associated with commuting.
