First2HelpYou Raising Funds For Suzy Lamplugh Trust

A few members of the First2HelpYou team are dusting off their running shoes this summer to run through London and participate in the Virgin Sport British 10k Run. The aim is to raise funds for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust; read on to find out what you can do to help and how the trust spends their donations.

The Virgin Sport British 10k Run

First2HelpYou team members, Alicia Mather and Nick Hunter will be joined by Alicia’s husband Richard to run 10k through the streets of London on July 15th.

The British 10k, which is organised by Virgin Sport will see over 10,000 runners weave their way through London, making their way along the Embankment, passing by Big Ben, rushing past Trafalgar Square, and on past Westminster Abbey.

Our lone worker team are in training as we speak to ensure they are in tip-top condition before the day of the run! Sales and Operations Director Alicia is pictured below in her shiny new trainers and we can guarantee she will be keeping Nick and Richard focussed on the goal!

In addition to completing the course, the team wish to raise £1500 for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. Having worked in the lone worker industry for a number of years, the team wish to recognise the great work the trust does, highlighting the importance of personal safety.

What Happened To Suzy Lamplugh?

Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent disappeared in 1986 after showing a client round a house in Fulham. Suzy was reported missing the same day she disappeared after going to an appointment with someone calling himself “Mr Kipper”. Her car was found the same night outside a property for sale in Stevenage Road, Fulham, about a mile and a half away.

Despite a police reconstruction and extensive media coverage, sadly no information was forthcoming on Suzy’s fate. Her body has never been found, but she has been presumed murdered and was declared dead in 1993.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was established in 1986 by Suzy’s Mother, Diana Lamplugh, to help people avoid becoming victims of aggression, and to offer counselling and support to relatives and friends of missing people.

Lone Working and The Suzy Lamplugh Trust

Suzy Lamplugh worked as an estate agent; a job which often involves working alone. Today, estate agents are offered more protection due to advancements in technology; lone worker devices, for instance.

However, the trust also offers a range of support and resources that are helpful for lone workers, and run regular courses and educational seminars on personal safety.

Donations help the trust provide vital advice and support to a variety of people across the UK, in addition to funding the National Stalking Helpline.

As providers of lone worker solutions and having worked in the industry for many years, the First2HelpYou team strongly support the trust’s message of keeping safe, especially while at work.
