Highlights From The Lone Worker Expo 2018

The First2HelpYou team had a great time at the annual Lone Worker Safety Expo in London on Tuesday, speaking to conference visitors about our lone worker solutions and enjoying a varied range of presentations.

If you missed out on the event then read on for some of the conference highlights and information about our lone worker products.

Lone Worker Safety Expo – Conference Highlights

Nicole Vazquez from Worthwhile Training hosted the event, answering questions and opening and closing the speaker sessions. Nicole and her team also expertly organised the event. Adi Scott of Worthwhile Training gave an excellent session where he spoke about developing and delivering lone worker training.

Heather Beach, founder of the Healthy Work Company delivered an informative and engaging session on employee wellbeing. The practical workshop explored the legal framework and the case for managing mental health, sources of organisational stress and how to spot signs and symptoms of distress in lone workers. Participants were invited to write down signs and symptoms of mental health problems in lone workers and Heather spoke about one of the most common triggers of stress for lone workers – a lack of human connection. You can read an interview with Heather here.

One of the busiest workshops was delivered by Matt Trigg from Human Applications; working alone: health and safety risks, the controls and getting the balance right. Matt discussed when and how to address lone working as a safety issue, balancing control and empowerment, and separating decisions from outcomes in a ‘Just’ organisation.

An interesting session came from Doug Melia at Safer Handling. He answered questions such as, what is reasonable force when it comes to defending yourself? And the effectiveness of physical skills for self-defence.

Of course, we also had our own moment in the spotlight – Sales and Operations Director, Alicia took part in an ‘ask the expert’ session where she answered questions about lone working and our products.

Alicia also took her turn to man our stand and chat to visitors. Talking of our stand…we also got the chance to put up our new banners which we think looked great! Thanks to GrowTraffic for sorting them out for us!

Visitors to our stand were keen to hear about the newest lone worker device on the market; the KIT device.

Our lone worker device is perfect for employees who are at risk from their environment, service users, the public, or the tasks they carry out. Discreet, lightweight, and simple to use, conference visitors were keen to talk to us about how we could help protect their teams.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see us at the lone worker safety expo, we appreciate the support and if you missed out but want more information on lone working or any of our products, then please get in touch.
